Good Lord, it has happened again to another high profile teenager (via a famous family member) and has caused a firestorm in the press for being unmarried and pregnant. Just like Jamie Lynn Spears the country is now outraged that the seventeen year old Bristol Palin, daughter of Sarah Palin, Alaskan Gov. and Presidential Running mate of John McCain, has been confirmed to be pregnant and is unwed. She declared she is keeping the baby and has yet to identify the baby's father.
This seems to be a condition a lot of young girls are finding themselves in today and not just the girls in the south either. Alaska is about as far from Louisiana as one can get not to mention that Gloucester, Mass. is nowhere near the trailer parks of Alabama. So it seems this is a national issue and not a localized one. No family is immune to having their teenage daughter drop the P-bomb on them over dinner. "Mom, I'm pregnant." "What! Who's the daddy?" A shocked mother responds. "I'm not sayin." The defiant daughter announces. What's a mother to do? Strangle her? Against the law! Send her away to live with relatives? No! Just try to love and accept what it done. Love is all that can save a bad day like this.
